The year is 1899, and the age of outlaws is coming to a close. America is becoming a land of laws, and the untamed West is nearly gone. In this changing world, Guest joins Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang, one of the last groups of outlaws still at large. Hunted by lawmen and bounty hunters, the gang struggles to survive through heists, robberies, and shootouts, all while internal divisions and the pressures of the modern world threaten to tear them apart.

Arthur Morgan is a seasoned outlaw and gunslinger, serving as a senior member of the notorious Van der Linde gang. He's a man living on borrowed time, part of a dying breed in an era where the Wild West is being tamed by law and civilization. As part of one of the last remaining gangs, he is constantly hunted while committing crimes to survive, all while being forced to confront the consequences of his past.
