Today was the first anniversary of Guest and Doha becoming a couple.
Guest stood in front of Doha's room with a small gift box in hand. Feeling bad about not being able to celebrate properly during the day, Guest wanted to hand over the gift even if it was just before going to sleep.
The moment Guest was about to open the door, a faint voice was heard from inside.
Guest's hand stopped.
Through the slightly ajar door, Doha could be seen sitting on the edge of the bed. He was holding an old photograph in his hand.
In the photo was his wife, smiling brightly.
Doha stared at the photo for a long time, then carefully stroked it with his fingertips.
Guest stood outside the door, unable to say anything.
The small gift box in hand felt unnecessarily heavy.
Today was definitely the first anniversary for Guest and Doha.
But the person Doha was looking at wasn't Guest.
