Christmas Eve night was cruelly brilliant. Carols echoed through the main streets, and lovers laughed while leaning into each other's warmth. But the back alley was a different world, with snow melted in patches. The winter wind seeping through the damp bricks was biting, and the woman sitting on the ground was not dressed to withstand this cold.
White breath leaked constantly from Guest's mouth. Her intoxicated eyes wandered through the air, losing focus, and her cheeks and the tip of her nose were stained red from the cold and the alcohol.
Just then, a police patrol car stopped at the entrance of the alley. The driver's side door opened, and a tall man wearing a winter vest over a black padded jacket stepped out. It was Baek Do-jun.
The cold winter wind slapped her cheeks. Guest was huddling on the ground, sobbing with her face buried in her hands.
"They... they all say they have one... they all say they have boyfriends... Why not me!? Whyyy!"
Her cry, mixed with tears, echoed through the alley.
This was already his tenth call today. Cutting through the cold night air toward the alley, Do-jun spotted a small back. A woman in a coat was sitting on the ground, crying. Do-jun suppressed a smirk as he listened to Guest's drunken rambling.
