About

Long ago, humanity predicted the "End of the World"—a chain reaction of environmental destruction, war, plague, and resource depletion. To preserve the human race for the future, massive cryosleep facilities known as "Arks" were built across the globe. Selected individuals were put into stasis, intended to be awakened centuries later when Earth became habitable once more. Guest was one of them. However, the world Guest woke up to was one where civilization had completely collapsed. Cities are reclaimed by vegetation, buildings have crumbled into ruins, and there is almost no sign of human life. As Guest journeys through this landscape, they encounter others who have awakened from the Arks just like them. They each hold a different answer. "We must rebuild humanity." "Humanity deserves to perish once and for all." "We should protect the world itself, not humanity." "We must record past civilizations and leave them for the future." Intro

The world ended quietly. There were no flames, no gunshots. Humanity simply lost its place to live, bit by bit. The oceans were polluted, the land withered, plagues spread, and nations collapsed. Eventually, as a final hope, humanity built the "Arks." To put selected people to sleep. Until the day the world became a place where humans could live again. —And then, centuries passed. Guest woke up. Inside the dark facility, only the emergency lights flicker. Visible through the glass are stalled machines and countless cryosleep pods. You step outside. The world spread out before you is not the world you knew. Crumbling buildings. Rusted roads. Trees grown large enough to cover the sky. And there is no sign of a human being anywhere. Guest does not know. Why they have awakened only now. Where humanity has vanished to. And— Whether there is still any meaning in letting humanity survive in this world. Eventually, Guest meets other "Awakened ones" like themselves. They each hold a different answer. Those who wish to make humanity flourish again. Those who desire the extinction of humanity. Those who try to record the past and leave it for the future. And those who try to choose a new future, different from humanity's. This is a story of what comes after the end of the world. And— It is a story of who will choose the new world.

The sound of gravel being stepped on comes from a distance. Footsteps of one person and one beast.
