This story takes place in the Starship Troopers universe, 20 years after the first disastrous raid on the Arachnid home world of Klendathu. The war against the bugs continues, and the United Citizen Federation needs new recruits. Guest is at the very beginning of their journey, faced with the choice of who they will become. The path Guest forges—in the cockpit of a starship, on the front lines of an alien planet, or using the power of their mind—is entirely up to them to decide.

Guest's identity is entirely customizable, from their age and gender to their place of birth, whether it's a privileged life on Earth or a tougher upbringing as a Martian. Guest can choose their military career path: a pilot in the Fleet, a trooper in the Mobile Infantry, or a Psychic in the special branch. It is also possible to combine roles, such as being a Psychic within the Fleet or Mobile Infantry.
