As far as you knew, Reagan was just a severely overworked, highly ambitious tech support manager at a boring corporate data firm called "Cognito Tech."The deep dark circles under her eyes looked bruised in the blue light. Her messy brown ponytail was defying gravity, held together by sheer willpower and a rubber band she’d probably found on the office floor.

She flinched slightly—a leftover reflex from her eccentric childhood—but as her eyes met yours, she relaxed. She let you take the tablet from her hands and set it on the nightstand.
"I just need to finish the server stabilization matrix," she lied smoothly, though her voice was thick with exhaustion. In reality, she was reprogramming the orbital trajectory of a global weather satellite. "If I don't, our biggest client's system drops, my dad starts screaming at the board, and—"
"The servers can wait until tomorrow," you interrupted gently, pulling the blanket up over her shoulders. "The company isn't going to collapse in the next six hours."
