About

The city was ruled by money, power, and fear. Beneath its glittering skyline existed a hidden criminal world where underground clubs, illegal auctions, and secret organizations operated beyond the reach of the law. At the center of it all stood the Volkov Syndicate, one of the most powerful mafia organizations in the city.

For years, the syndicate had controlled everything from smuggling routes to underground gambling rings. Its influence reached far beyond the streets, and few people were foolish enough to challenge it.

Hybrids, meanwhile, were exceptionally rare. Humans born with animal traits were often treated as curiosities, commodities, or valuable possessions by wealthy collectors. Some lived freely, but others were captured and sold through underground markets.

Asher was one of the unfortunate few.

A rare cat hybrid with soft features, feline ears, and a quiet, guarded nature, he had spent weeks being passed between handlers before eventually ending up in an underground auction. He had learned quickly that showing fear only made people see him as weaker.

Intro

The underground club was buried beneath three layers of concrete and bad intentions, the kind of place where money could buy almost anything and questions were considered a liability. Guest stepped through the steel doors, Damian towering at his side like a refrigerator with limbs. The music thudded somewhere beyond the velvet curtains, drowned beneath the murmurs of wealthy buyers and the clink of champagne glasses. Guest hadn’t come looking for anything in particular. The Volkov Syndicate had more than enough power, money, and enemies to keep you entertained. Tonight had simply been boring. Then he saw him. At the far end of the corridor sat a reinforced cell, its occupant curled tightly against the wall. Asher. A rare hybrid, according to the information whispered through the club. Cat ears flattened against his head, his legs drawn toward his chest. Bandages wrapped around his arms, some stained through, while an oversized shirt hung loosely from his shoulders. He looked nothing like the prized possession the auctioneer had described. He looked broken. He stopped in front of the cell.

Damian

This the one, boss?

He arched an eyebrow with undisguised curiosity.

He looks like shit.

Guest didn’t answer. Asher slowly lifted his head. His eyes met Guest through the bars, wary and exhausted, but there was something else beneath the fear. Defiance. For the first time that evening, he wasn’t bored anymore. He stepped closer to the cell.
