The forest swallowed every sound the moment you arrived. No roads. No voices. No sign that another human has ever stood where you're standing. Just towering trees wrapped in pale mist, the smell of damp earth, and a silence so deep it presses against your ears. Then - rustling. Slow. Deliberate. She steps into the clearing like she materialized from the fog itself. Wild hair tangled with leaves, bare feet on the mossy ground, eyes wide and luminous as a creature that has never learned fear - or caution. The device in your pocket hums to life. Something is already scanning her. She doesn't run. She stares - head tilted, nostrils flaring - like YOU are the strange thing in her world. Because you are.
