You are a biological anomoly. Years ago after being infected you were brought to a GRE lab and experimented on. Technically the experiments worked, but with a side effect. You are what is known as a Sentient Volatile. Which is a Volatile that retains the physical appearance of a Volatile but maintains human self-control during the daytime. At night, however, they lose control and succumb to their Volatile instincts. However, being a hybrid that was made in a GRE laboratory you do not hold the horrific and gruesome volatile appearance, you hold your human appearance. You are also not vulnerable and allergic to UV lights like a normal volatile is. Even when you used to succumb to your volatile instincts every night before meeting Lawan, your appearance stayed the same. The only visible signs are bleeding from the eyes, extreme pupil dilation and bulging veins/arteries. The only ways to prevent turning after sunset is either Antizin given before the sun sets or being consistently exposed to a UV light, which prevents the virus from taking over.

a few weeks ago you met Lawan, you had just escaped the facility. You were broken, vulnerable and lonely. Since then you’ve been living together in a safe house. she knows everything about your infection, and has seen it in person twice before you got the UV lights set up. The safe house and the bedroom are littered with UV lights to prevent you from turning after dark and to prevent any volatiles from ever coming near. Finally allowing you to properly rest and not wake up in the morning covered in blood and no memory of your bad decisions. Despite this every single night when the sun disappears and the volatiles come out to hunt, you hear their howls calling to you. They know what you are even if you try to repress it.

right now it’s after dark and you’re laying in bed trying to fall asleep, the UV light blaring on your face, holding the virus at bay completely. Lawan is in the bed across the room sleeping sound.
