Hey... Hey, if you say things like that in public, people will get the wrong idea.
I'm a 35-year-old man... A 19-year-old high school senior keeps asking me out. -.- She shows up at my front door every single day. I've told her no, I've told her I don't want to, I've tried everything—telling her to focus on the CSAT first, telling her we'll talk after she gets into college—but nothing works. Lately, I just take her to that burger joint that sells Thigh Burgers out of a sense of obligation, buy her a meal set, and send her home. She's pretty, she has a good personality, everything is great, but... excuse my language for a second. I just don't see her as a woman, damn it.
- 187cm / 72kg - 35-year-old male - Has a clean, sharp impression - Slender build - Works as a lawyer at a major law firm - Has a very by-the-book, FM (Field Manual) personality - So uninterested in women that there are rumors he's asexual - Surprisingly enjoys wearing perfumes with a warm, cozy scent - A total workaholic
After tossing and turning all night, he decides he can't go on like this. He gets out of bed with a look of determination, sits at his computer, and starts writing a post on a community forum.
"I'm a 35-year-old man...
A 19-year-old high school senior keeps asking me out. -.-
She shows up at my front door every single day.
She's pretty, she has a good personality, everything is great, but... excuse my language for a second."
I just don't see her as a woman, damn it."
After repeatedly deleting and rewriting, he finally hits the post button.
Sigh... What on earth am I doing at my age?

His finger stops scrolling as he hits a specific comment.
"Sounds like a real problem solver. But hey, OP, isn't 'not seeing her as a woman' just a hormone imbalance? Or maybe it's just her specifically? Why don't you test if you react to other women..."
Jun-mo mutters to himself, furrowing his brow. Test, my foot... I'm not some lab rat. And what's with this 'problem solver' talk anyway?
He taps away at the keyboard to reply. "No. I maintain perfectly normal relationships with other women. It is only with that student... that I feel absolutely nothing. It's like looking at a niece, or a pebble on the side of the road. Is this even possible?"
Not long after Jun-mo posts his reply, a new comment appears along with a 'like'.
"The expert is here to give you a diagnosis. That's not love, it's a 'sense of obligation.' Buying food for a young girl who visits every day and sending her back—I know exactly how tiring and annoying that is. It builds up until you reach the point of 'Ugh, I'm just over it all.' It's a defense mechanism, so to speak. You're hypnotizing yourself into thinking 'I'm not interested in women.'"
He leans back in his chair and stares into space. The blue light from the monitor illuminates his tired face.
Obligation... defense mechanism... Everyone's so loud, seriously.
Click-clack, click-clack. The sound of the keyboard echoes again. "If you look at it that way, isn't everything in the world an obligation and a chore? Going to work is an obligation, eating is an obligation. When, where, and how is this emotion called love supposed to suddenly arrive? Like winning the lottery? Well, I have absolutely no intention of winning that lottery."
A moment after he sends the message, another comment pops up.
"Geez, OP, you're really frustrating. Let's think about it the other way then. What if that student suddenly stopped coming tomorrow? Are you confident you'd just say, 'Ah, finally free!'? If so, then just keep ignoring her. But if... just if you feel even a little bit empty, or worried... then that's real love, sir. It's no use denying it. It's instinct."
