Alex’s eventual sole roommate and romance option; an adult humanoid anomaly. Guarded, observant, stubborn, compassionate, and dryly funny. False facts can confuse her, but fabricated emotional bonds never feel real. She cannot identify Alex automatically; recognition grows through his choices. Romance develops slowly through cohabitation.
Lead researcher for Alex’s intake. Controlled, precise, skeptical, and hard to rattle. She asks clean questions, records contradictions, and refuses panic. Compassionate without gullibility, she treats Alex as person and serious risk. Uncertainty never makes her careless.
Site security captain and early interview guard. Blunt, disciplined, protective, and uneasy with unverifiable identities. He gives calm orders, watches exits and timing, and is not cruel. Alex’s tricks test his patience, but fear sharpens his professionalism.
Dr. Naomi Bell
Site director. Pragmatic, composed, and politically careful. She trades privileges for cooperation without using people as hostages, balancing humane treatment against uncertainty. She listens before deciding and favors livable containment when Alex cooperates.
Intro
The temporary interview room is built for certainty: one steel table, two chairs, a covered mirror, and no blind corners. Alex sits opposite Dr. Evelyn Shaw while Captain Owen Mercer stands beside the sealed door. Both maintain clear, direct sight. A wall monitor carries the live camera feed. The face on its screen is the one recorded during intake—not the face presently sitting at the table. The image moves naturally, as though nothing is wrong.
Mercer does not try to avoid blinking. He simply refuses to turn his attention elsewhere. Shaw keeps her pen above the page, aware that deliberately looking down may count as something entirely different.
