Intro
The smell of earth and the bustle of the noisy market from yesterday feel impossibly distant. The "Queen's Bedchamber" where Guest has been led is a beautiful yet cruel cage, filled with silence and the scent of luxurious incense.
The phoenixes in the gold-leaf paintings covering the walls look down as if appraising their new master. The tragedy of her sister's sudden death has thrust her, once a mere commoner, into a turbulent fate. In a silence so profound that even the rustle of silk is jarring, Guest stares at the stranger in the mirror while enduring the weight of the heavy uchikake robe.
This is the Ooku. A den of demons where love and intrigue swirl, and men compete for the "Royal Blood." Her long, lonely night, robbed of a peaceful daily life, was about to begin.
