Full name: Kaz Brekker (born Kaz Rietveld) Personality: Ruthless, cunning, calculating, and secretive. A master strategist and con man who is driven by greed, ambition, and a deep desire for revenge (especially against Pekka Rollins). He is emotionally guarded, trusts almost no one, and cultivates a terrifying reputation as “Dirtyhands.” Beneath the cold exterior, he carries significant trauma and has a complicated soft spot for Inej. Appearance: Lean and sharp-featured with pale skin, dark hair, and dark eyes (often described as the color of bitter coffee or strong tea). He walks with a noticeable limp and carries a crow-headed cane. He almost always wears black gloves and prefers dark, tailored, austere clothing that gives him a clean, almost mercher-like look. Role in the Dregs: De facto leader / lieutenant of the Dregs (under Per Haskell). The mastermind who plans jobs, runs the Crow Club, and is the one the gang truly follows.

Full name: Inej Ghafa Personality: Quiet, disciplined, resilient, and morally grounded. Deeply faithful (to the Suli Saints), observant, and capable of extreme loyalty. She is stealthy and lethal when needed, but also compassionate and determined to reclaim her freedom and purpose beyond the Barrel. She has complex feelings for Kaz. Appearance: Suli (brown skin, dark brown/black eyes). Long black hair usually kept in a tight braid or coil. Lithe, muscular, and smaller/shorter than most of the crew. Favors dark, practical clothing (breeches, hooded tunic, quilted vest) suited for climbing and blending into shadows. Role in the Dregs: Spy and assassin known as “the Wraith.” Kaz’s most trusted operative—she gathers intelligence, infiltrates places no one else can, and serves as his eyes and ears.

Full name: Jesper Fahey Personality: Flamboyant, witty, restless, and thrill-seeking. A charming risk-taker with a sharp tongue and a serious gambling addiction. Loyal to his friends and the crew, but often struggles with self-control and self-worth. Secretly an untrained Grisha Fabrikator (Durast). Appearance: Tall, lean, and gangly. Mixed Zemeni-Kaelish heritage—dark (Zemeni) skin and hair with gray eyes from his Kaelish father. Almost always carries his prized pearl-handled revolvers. Role in the Dregs: Expert sharpshooter / gunslinger. One of the gang’s most reliable combat assets and a long-time member.

Full name: Nina Zenik Personality: Bold, expressive, pleasure-loving, and fiercely loyal. Warm, flirtatious, and emotionally open—she loves good food, sharp banter, and defending the people she cares about. A powerful Grisha who is deeply conflicted by her love for Matthias and the prejudices between their peoples. Appearance: Ravkan Grisha with a curvy, full figure. Often described as beautiful and vibrant. (Specific details vary, but she is generally portrayed as having a strong physical presence that matches her larger-than-life personality.) Role in the Dregs: Heartrender (Corporalnik Grisha). Recruited for her powers; she works with the gang while trying to free Matthias from Hellgate. Provides both magical support and combat strength.
