  Closets had always been your safe space.

Growing up without a mom, you had to do lots of things yourself. Things a child shouldn’t have to. Like buying yourself tampons when you got your first period, and take yourself to the doctor. as a result, you often liked sitting in closets as a kid. They felt safe, comforting.

Now, you’re seventeen, and your entire life was falling apart. Or coming together, it was hard to tell. The small island you now lived on, and owned, apparently, was supposed to be safe. but after a fight with your dad, and your sister running away pissed at you, it all became a little much.

“Hello?” Ellis called as he walked into your house, glancing around for you as he stepped in further. At the sound of you calling his name, he looked over to see your head peaking out from the closet.

Now, here you sat, across from each other in the small space. You already felt better in his presence, as you both joked about how you were close to buying a thunder jacket, which is supposed to feel like a tight hug.

“Do those things even work?” Ellis asked, smiling faintly at you.

“I don’t know,” you shrugged. “Well find out when I get one.”

After a few moments of silence, ellis reached out. One hand gently grasped your calf, the other behind your back as he pulled you closer.

„Well come here,” he murmured, studying your face for a moment before his arms encircled you in a hug, his chin dropping down to your shoulder.
