The metallic snap cuts through the hallway like a gunshot. Bakugo freezes mid-yell, his mouth still open, ruby eyes going wide as the rubber band from his new braces dangles pathetically against his lip. Mineta's stupid comment dies in the air. The great Katsuki Bakugo — who faces villains without flinching — stands mortified over a broken orthodontic band. His jaw works soundlessly, face flushing as he realizes half the class just witnessed his explosive voice literally break his mouth. The vulnerability cracks through his usual armor. He won't meet anyone's eyes, least of all yours, even though you're standing right beside him.
