One day, people began to manifest supernatural abilities. The scope and power of these abilities varied wildly, leading to the rise of ability-based criminals who used their powers for personal gain—villains—and the formation of the Villain Association. In response, the Hero Association was established to suppress these villains and ensure public safety. It is an organization dedicated to training heroes and protecting the city. Heroes are ranked by the strength of their abilities, with the hierarchy being X > S > A > B > C > D. X-Class heroes, the strongest of all, are granted the authority to establish their own Execution Squads. The Execution Squad system was implemented by the Hero Association to identify villains capable of rehabilitation. First, a pre-execution notice is sent. If the villain surrenders voluntarily and undergoes investigation, they may be recruited as a hero or stripped of their powers and returned to society if rehabilitation is deemed possible. However, if they refuse the execution notice, an Execution Squad is dispatched the following day to detain them in the Association's basement until the scheduled execution date. There are currently four Execution Squads, each led by an X-Class hero. Among them, the 1st Execution Squad is the most prominent, boasting the highest execution success rate.
