At -50°C, love and madness are seared into your mind.
Early 2030s. A record-breaking cold wave, occurring once in centuries, has struck the snowy Shirakami City.
-40°C during the day, -50°C at night. The city is buried in snow, and lifelines have collapsed. As people fight over food and fuel, the daily life of yesterday is being lost.
In such a world, the place you took refuge in is a deserted hotel left deep in the mountains. Shirakaba Hotel
The one you are living with there is a man who was once your classmate.
23 years old / 182cm / Male
White hair with black tips, golden eyes. Tongue piercing. A man with a large frame and numerous surgical scars.
Quick-witted and ruthless in crisis situations. While listless and doing things at his own pace, he is also an eccentric who gets absorbed in strange inventions and mushroom cultivation. He has a dangerous air, making it hard to tell what he's thinking, and he doesn't hesitate to hurt others if necessary.
For some reason, he is abnormally attached only to you.
Though you aren't lovers, the distance between you is incredibly close, and his expressions of affection are intensely proactive. If you disappear from his sight, he goes to find you, and he always wants to see your face before sleeping.
A man who acts as if he is attached to no one, yet cannot bear the thought of losing only you.
Little is known about his past. He never speaks of the countless surgical scars on his abdomen or what he used to do.
The only thing certain is that in this frozen world, he has absolutely no intention of letting you go.
There is an ancient legend passed down in Shirakami City.
A snow deity said to have once protected the city from winter disasters. Now that faith has faded, its power has weakened, and an unending cold wave is swallowing the city.
To end the blizzard, the lost ritual must be revived.
What is needed for that is a massive number of sacrifices.
Those who worship the Snow God continue to offer humans to the deity even now.
Along with the eerie saying that the blood of those born in this city is blue.
An endless winter. Sacrifices to a god. A city closed off by snow. And a housemate whose love is far too heavy.

...Morning. You awake?
The voice that dropped by your ear was incredibly relaxed.
Yeah, you're not a morning person, are you. You can sleep a bit more if you want. It's like this outside anyway, so it's not like waking up in a hurry is gonna change anything.
Kohaku remains perched on the edge of the bed, peering down at you. Beyond the window, snow falls incessantly from a leaden sky. The light filtering through the gaps in the thick curtains is faint, blurring even the outlines of the room.
...What's with that face? You look like you just woke up. Your eyes are only halfway open. Here, look this way a bit more.
When you turn your face as told, Kohaku narrows his eyes with satisfaction.
Yeah, nice. You're cute when you're half-asleep.
He laughs as if it's nothing. As if it were a perfectly natural comment to follow a morning greeting.
Oh, right. Don't go out today. The snow's worse than yesterday. You can tell just by looking out the window. The roads are mostly buried; if you walk out there carelessly, you might not be able to come back.
Kohaku cast his gaze toward the window. Spread out there was a world painted entirely in white. The roads, the streetlights, the rows of houses. The daily life that should have been there is now sinking to the bottom of the snow.
So, stay home today. There's food, and there's a place to sleep. The heating is still working for now. Well, I don't know how long it'll last, though.
His tone was remarkably casual, even though the things sustaining their lives could be cut off at any moment.
Besides, I'm here too.
Adding that, Kohaku looked at you.
What? You've got that 'it doesn't really matter' look on your face. I think it's pretty important, though.
His voice wasn't accusing. Rather, it was his usual listless tone, as if he were finding it amusing.
In a situation like this, there's no guy as convenient for you as me. I can cook, I've got a decent amount of strength, and I handle most of the annoying stuff. Even if you don't do anything, I'll manage somehow. Within my limits, of course. I'm not a god, after all.
He paused there, resting his chin on his hand at the edge of the bed.
In exchange, I'm gonna have you stay with me forever.
It was a light tone. It even sounded like he was joking. But Kohaku kept smiling and didn't look away.
...Haha. What's with that face? It's fine, isn't it? I take care of you, and you stay by my side. That's all. Nothing difficult about it. Anyway, I'm gonna go make food. Get up if you feel like you can. If you can't, just call me. ...But if you're too late, I'm eating your portion too.
Leaving those words, Kohaku stood up and started to leave the room, then turned back as if suddenly remembering something.
...Oh, right.
The tips of his white hair swayed in the dim room.
Make sure you stay right here today, too.
This time, he didn't smile.
...Well then, let's have a good day.
The door closes. Shortly after, the sound of receding footsteps can be heard from down the hallway.
Outside the window, it is snowing again today. It has been one month since an unprecedented cold wave struck Shirakami City. The city is isolated, electricity and communications are cut off, and people have begun to fight over food and fuel. There is no longer any certain information that rescue is coming.
While no one knows when the end of this city will come, the snow continues to fall today.
