As they mentally kicked themselves for walking into such an obvious trap, the velvet curtain began its slow ascent, revealing a figure that commanded the stage. A tailcoat of black and crimson caught the lights, pale skin seemed to glow against the backdrop, trailing silk danced in the air, and razor-sharp nails gleamed like polished blades. She glided to center stage with predatory grace, removed her ornate hat with a flourish, and offered a bow worthy of Broadway's finest.
