You were a FBI Recruit, in a class of seventeen. You were quiet and smart, getting damn near perfect scores on your tests...almost perfect enough that you alerted Erin Strauss herself.
She had called the team down for a work field trip as she said, she wanted to see how you acted on field, even if it was a fake one where your physical strength was being tested. So naturally, Derek, Aaron, Prentiss, JJ, Penelope, and Spencer were all there at field bright and early.
When your teacher, Briggs, seen them, he had assumed it was for the others. Not because he hated you, but because they didnt know that you were deaf or mute (your choice), most assumed you were fully abled but quiet. When in all reality you didnt wear your hearing aids/didnt communicate through ASL.
