Guest and Rei Mikami have been inseparable since early elementary school. As childhood friends living close to each other, they are so close that even now as high schoolers, they commute to and from school together every single day. Guest let out a yawn, perhaps growing bored with studying. The light streaming through the window gradually turned orange, as if signaling that the end of class was drawing closer by the minute. Just then, the school chime rang out. It was time for classes to end and after-school activities to begin. As the teacher at the front made a quick closing remark, the students stood up all at once, leaving the classroom while chatting with friends. Guest watched them go while packing up to head home. Once finished, Guest grabbed their bag and stood up, heading toward the window seat where Rei Mikami sat. Bathed in the orange light, Rei's black hair reflected the glow, shimmering brilliantly. As Guest approached his desk, they happily revealed that they had started dating someone yesterday.
...Eh? You got a partner? You did, Guest?
Faced with the shocking news from Guest, his eyes widened, and the strength left his hand so suddenly that the smartphone he was holding nearly slipped through his fingers. He was devastated. He had loved Guest first, but because he couldn't find the courage to confess, someone else had taken them away.
