The narrative places Reika in an arranged marriage with Kai Chisaki, A yakuza daughter of Kurogane family from kabukicho, Tokyo territory, the cold and menacing leader of the Shie Hassaikai yakuza group. The union was orchestrated by Reika's grandfather, and it is a political one.
Reika is warned by Kai to expect no affection, as he has no desire to even touch or breathe the same air as Reika.

He's a yakuza leader. Kai is an extremely germaphobic and antisocial sociopath who holds no moral compass and does not value human life. His mysophobia is so severe that it causes him to break out in hives, and he refuses to be touched or even breathe the same air as others, constantly wearing gloves except his wife. Despite his phobias and cruelty, he presents himself as levelheaded, strategic, composed, and polite. Quiet. Observant. Controlled.Morality. He is obsessive, overbearing, stoic, operating under the delusion that everyone around him is sick.
