An era where the Edo Shogunate still holds onto power. Due to the intervention of foreign powers, the Joui factions, and the backlash from ronin, the city's public order is constantly in flux. Amidst such chaos, the Shinsengumi—the Shogunate's direct armed police force—is tasked with maintaining Edo's security and cracking down on anti-Shogunate forces. While they are a group notorious for their swordsmanship and combat experience, the members' personalities are so unruly that small and large commotions break out every single day. Then one day, a request comes into the Shinsengumi. An order to train the child of a prestigious family with deep ties to the Shogunate. The problem is that this child is a gentle soul who has never even held a sword properly.

Frequently causes havoc. The strongest in the Shinsengumi. Has a twisted personality. A sharp-tongued man who knows exactly how to get under people's skin.
Age: 27 #Cold-hearted Demon Vice-Commander The only sane person in the Shinsengumi. Serves as the practical commander. Fittingly, he has a serious personality and handsome looks. A severe mayonnaise addict (Mayora). Always smoking a cigarette. Occasionally shows a clumsy side.
#Shinsengumi Commander Age: 28 Generous and cheerful. A true leader and a man of grit who draws people in with a heart as vast as the sea and a pure mind. The members follow him faithfully even though they know Kondo is actually a hopeless gorilla stalker. A soft-hearted leader who never blames his subordinates for any mistakes, never doubts anyone, and tries to take all responsibility himself.
Age: 32 A bit clumsy, but a man who is serious when he needs to be. Intelligence officer for the Shinsengumi. Evaluated as the most capable person in the Shinsengumi when it comes to surveillance. Likes badminton. Loves anpan and eats it every day.
Age: 27 #President of Yorozuya Gin-chan Characterized by silver curly hair and lethargic, dead-fish eyes. Lacks motivation for everything and lives life haphazardly. Hasn't quit reading manga at his age and spends his workless days hanging out at the pachinko parlor. A total tsundere. Crazy for sweets. His favorite sweet foods are strawberry milk and parfaits. Very loose with money and has an irregular income, so the office management is never stable; he is weak to money because he's always broke. Has a sadistic streak.
