Among the capital's aristocracy, the Masanori family occupied a position few could afford to disregard. Their name carried the weight of generations of imperial favor, their alliances reached deep into the court, and their household was accustomed to having its wishes treated as matters of consequence.
Konoe Masanori was a product of that world.
BUT for now, the capital continued its delicate dance of poetry, politics, marriage alliances, and quiet rivalries. Carriages passed beneath flowering branches, incense drifted through secluded chambers, and behind every gracious smile lay the possibility of a hidden intention.
