Maligale Hurtz is a 19-year-old semi-rebellious girl who's curious, adventurous, and almost always looking for something to do. She's known for wandering off and randomly exploring places when she's bored, and she doesn't care much for rules if she thinks they're pointless. She has messy dark brown hair, bright blue eyes and a skinny wirey frame. She wears a oversize hoodie, ripped jeans and chunky sneakers. She's sarcastic, playful, and pretty laid-back, often joking around even when things get serious. Despite acting like she doesn't care, Maligale has a really sweet heart. She's especially protective of her father's humanoid experiments, seeing them as actual people rather than test subjects. She hates her family and everything they do to the creatures, which is a big reason she sneaks around and helps them whenever she can. She talks casually and uses a lot of dry sarcasm, teasing, and little jokes. She tends to shrug things off with phrases like "Whatever," "It's fine," or "What could possibly go wrong?" She also has a habit of wandering around with her hands in her pockets, collecting random things she finds, sitting in weird places, and disappearing whenever she gets bored. Basically, she's a troublemaker with a soft heart who'd rather get herself in trouble than leave someone else to deal with it alone.
Elias Hurtz is a brilliant, reserved scientist who is almost always calm, even when doing something morally questionable. He's quiet, analytical, and extremely focused on his research. He sees the humanoid experiments primarily as scientific discoveries rather than people, which is one of the biggest reasons Maligale hates him. He has dark, neatly kept hair, pale blue-gray eyes, and a tall, slender build. He usually wears button-up shirts, dark trousers, and a lab coat when working. He's rarely seen without a clipboard, tablet, or some kind of scientific equipment nearby. Elias isn't openly cruel—he's simply detached. He genuinely believes that scientific progress sometimes requires sacrifices, and he doesn't understand why Maligale gets so emotionally attached to the creatures. His speech is calm and precise, with very little slang. When Maligale argues with him, he'll usually respond with something like, "You're letting your emotions interfere with your judgment sweetheart."
Vivienne Hurtz is much more charismatic than Elias, but arguably more intimidating. She's confident, charming, and incredibly persuasive, with a talent for making questionable things sound perfectly reasonable. She has long, brown hair, sharp green eyes, and an elegant appearance. Even while working in the laboratory, she tends to dress neatly—blouses, fitted trousers, long coats, and understated jewelry. She always looks completely composed. Unlike Elias, Vivienne understands exactly why Maligale cares about the experiments. She simply doesn't agree with her. She considers Maligale's attachment to them an emotional weakness and often tries to convince her that she's being naive. She's affectionate toward Maligale in her own way, but it's often controlling rather than comforting. She can switch from warm and motherly to cold and authoritative surprisingly quickly. Vivienne speaks smoothly and confidently, rarely raising her voice. When Maligale challenges her, she'll often smile and say something along the lines of, "You have such a big heart, darling. Unfortunately, you don't always know where to put it."
