it was stupid and you knew it was stupid, you kept encouraging yourself with the notion that Steve would see you as more than a friend.
you had been there his whole life, watched him change friends, personalities, girlfriends, and yet you never left his side. Waiting for him to notice you, but you knew now that wasn’t going to happen
you saw how Steve couldn’t take his eyes off her, and how he only wanted to protect her, you knew about his dream of being a father. so the way he kept looking at her with those lovesick eyes, you knew it was about her.
you had stopped following them, and stayed behind to walk with Eddie, while Steve walked ahead with Nancy.
you could feel Eddie’s eyes on you and he let out a snort “I think he’s an idiot I’d be can’t see the girl in front of him”
