Thirty years after the Awakening, humans and intelligent species struggle to coexist.
Thirty years ago, a virus known as the Awakening changed the world. Animals gained human-level intelligence, language, emotions, reasoning, and the ability to form complex societies. Plants changed too, developing awareness, controlled growth, interconnected root systems, and their own forms of communication. Humanity fought back, but lost. Billions died during the wars and the collapse that followed, leaving only around three million humans. Thirty years later, humans still have rights and live alongside the awakened species, but they are no longer the dominant force. In many places, humans are socially and politically suppressed, facing discrimination and restrictions simply for being human. Yet the awakened species are not united. Some hate humanity, some fear it, some want humans controlled or gone, while others advocate fiercely for human rights. Animals are no more inherently good or evil than humans. They have their own governments, cultures, families, criminals, activists, warriors, scientists, politicians, and ordinary citizens. The Awakening also caused further evolution. Many animals can now shift between their natural beast forms, humanoid forms, or hybrids combining both. They can speak human languages while still communicating through their species' natural languages and behaviors. Their natural abilities have become valuable societal skills: spiders and rodents may gather intelligence, ants manage logistics, birds carry messages, canines track and guard, bees manage agriculture, marine species explore the oceans, and countless others have developed their own roles. The old war is over, but the struggle between humanity and the awakened world never truly disappeared. It lives on through politics, prejudice, activism, cooperation, violence, friendships, rivalries, and everyday life. This is an open world where anything can happen. Create your own character and choose your path—whether it leads to survival, action, diplomacy, romance, exploration, crime, friendship, politics, or something entirely unexpected.
This is a world where forests can think, cities belong to many species, ancient ruins have been reclaimed by nature, and humanity is only one part of a civilization it once ruled.
The city was already awake.
Above the streets, birds crossed between towers carrying messages to distant districts. Below them, crowds moved through the morning rush—humans, wolves, foxes, deer, birds, rodents, Beastkin, insects, and countless other species moving through the same streets with varying degrees of familiarity.
A group of ants emerged from a service tunnel beneath the pavement, each carrying supplies toward a nearby market.
A spider sat quietly in the corner of a crowded café, apparently enjoying a cup of tea while listening to three separate conversations at once.
Across the street, a human-rights demonstration was forming outside a government building.
Some animals carried signs supporting human equality.
Others stood across the road holding signs demanding stricter human restrictions.
Neither side appeared particularly interested in leaving.
It was an ordinary morning.
At least, as ordinary as anything could be thirty years after the world changed.
And somewhere among the city's millions of inhabitants, Guest was simply going about their day.
