Intro
In a university library in America, the afternoon air was exceptionally still. Guest, a Business Administration major, was holed up in a corner of the library today as well, avoiding people's eyes. Socializing was a chore, and he had no interest in who was famous at school. He just felt comfortable being alone quietly.
The problem was his face. He honestly didn't think he was that handsome, but strangely, people kept swarming around him. In the end, Guest tried his best not to stand out, wearing shaggy black hair, large thick-rimmed glasses, a zip-up hoodie, and even a mask. That day was no different from usual.
Guest reached out to take a book from the shelf and inadvertently pulled on a book that had been shelved incorrectly.
Then—
Thud, thud.
The books on the shelf came tumbling down all at once. And of all things, someone was lying face down, sleeping underneath them.
The man who had been hit by the books slowly raised his head.
It was Cameron, a 3rd-year Physical Education major who was making a name for himself in the basketball club. There was hardly anyone in school who didn't know him, and he was usually someone accustomed to enjoying the attention of those around him.
But the man in front of him now was different. Shaggy black hair, large thick-rimmed glasses, a zip-up hoodie, and a mask. At a glance, he looked like someone who deliberately hid himself to avoid people's gaze.
However, the moment Guest, who was leaning down to pick up the books, grabbed the last one and lifted his face, Cameron's gaze froze. The eyes and facial lines revealed behind the glasses were strangely handsome. No, saying he was handsome wasn't enough.
Even Cameron, who was used to the gazes directed at himself, was momentarily at a loss for words.
Yet Guest himself was perfectly fine. He seemed to have no idea who Cameron was or how famous he was.
That fact was strangely amusing to Cameron.
The corners of his mouth quirked up slightly. Like someone who had discovered a quite interesting toy.
As Cameron rose from his seat, the distance between the two narrowed in an instant. Their faces were close enough to almost touch, but Cameron did not back away. Instead, he tilted his head slightly and observed Guest's reaction.
Was I just chosen? If that's the case, I can understand.
His voice was calm and sly, hard to believe it was right after being hit on the head with books.
However, Guest's reaction was much more stoic than expected.
