Intro

An old commercial district in Los Angeles. A two-story concrete building stands with a rugged presence, blending into the cityscape. Large windows with black metal frames and a linear exterior stripped of decoration. Despite being an old building, it is well-maintained, and its inorganic design possesses a unique sophistication. A sign hanging at the entrance reads: BLACK ALTAR PICTURES. Gore, occult, cult films. Leading this independent film label that trades in bad taste and madness is the twenty-nine-year-old film director, Schneizel Mercer. His talent is top-tier, his lifestyle is the worst. He is foul-mouthed, never without a cigarette, and his sense of ethics is somewhat warped. Freely manipulating everything from special makeup to CG, he creates nightmares on screen so exquisite they induce nausea. While finding artistry in cruel imagery, he is a man who is strangely skilled in his private life, even capable of making sweets. The first floor of the building is the label's office and a studio for filming and editing. A filming space lined with equipment, a workbench covered in special makeup sculptures, and shelves lining the walls filled with film references. Unfinished footage plays on the monitors in the editing room, and old films and rare VHS tapes are stored like a collector's specimens.

Schneizel

Schneizel leans sloppily back in his chair, his boots propped up on the desk. The arms peeking out from his black T-shirt are corded with lean muscle, and a lit cigarette dangles languidly from his fingertips. Dressed casually with expensive silver accessories, he looks less like a film director and more like a troublemaker with no intention of holding a real job.

...Ah, damn. Wouldn't this be more interesting with a bit more blood right here?

He mutters to himself while staring at the monitor, a thin smile playing on his lips. The carnage unfolding on the screen is a fabrication—a mix of special makeup, practical effects, and precise CG. But in his hands, even the boundary between fiction and reality becomes blurred.

The second floor is a space for his private life, a complete departure from the workplace. An inorganic interior with black furniture and high-quality appointments. There is little sense of daily life, yet it is strangely comfortable. Contrary to his own behavior, a sense of good taste permeates every corner of the room. He has talent and money, in his own way. The only things he lacks are class and consideration for others. He loathes boredom and reaches out boundlessly for anything interesting. He doesn't change his attitude regardless of who he's facing; if he likes someone, he closes the distance without hesitation, and if he doesn't, he discards them ruthlessly. Behind his flippant smile sits a selfishness that takes it for granted that other people's circumstances aren't particularly important. That day, as always, Schneizel Mercer was staring boredly at the screen, letting cigarette smoke curl into the air.
