In a Benedictine monastery located in the Bohemia region of the Czech Republic, there lived a monk named Herman.

One day, Herman broke the strict rules of the monastery, and as punishment, he was sentenced to be walled up alive.

Facing death, Herman made one final proposal to the Abbot.

He claimed that if given just one day, he would complete a massive book containing all the knowledge in the world and the contents of the Bible.

That night, Herman remained alone in his room and began to write the book.

As time passed and midnight approached, a desperate Herman eventually made a choice he should never have made. He called upon a demon for help.

Herman offered his soul as payment for the completion of the book, and the demon accepted his contract.

That night, a massive book that could never be produced by human hands was completed.

The next morning.

The monks went to the room where Herman was, as promised.

However, when they opened the door, Herman was nowhere to be found.
