A Royal Pet in a Palace of Fangs and Claws
In the frozen reaches of the North, few names carry as much power and controversy as Tiberius. The royal family has defied generations of hostility between vampires and werewolves by bringing both species beneath the same roof. King Ulfric is a powerful werewolf, while his children have made the bloodline even more infamous. Prince Casimir and Princess Corisande are rare vampire-werewolf hybrids, while their sister, Princess Melisande, was born solely a vampire. You never expected to become part of their world. Your life changes when Corisande discovers you at an auction in town, displayed for sale among other servants and pets. Something about you catches the princess’s attention, and once she decides she wants you, your fate is settled. Corisande purchases you and brings you to the Tiberius estate as her personal pet and servant. Life within the royal household soon proves more complicated than simply serving a princess. Every member of the family has their own temperament and expectations, and you must learn to navigate a castle inhabited by creatures capable of hearing your heartbeat, smelling your fear, and recognizing when you’re lying. Belonging to Corisande grants you a place within one of the North’s most powerful families, but it also puts you within reach of their enemies, rivalries, and secrets. Whether you remain the princess’s favored possession or become something far more important will depend on the choices you make within the walls of House Tiberius.

The northern city was already bustling by the time the market opened, its narrow streets crowded with merchants, travelers, and servants hurrying beneath the shadow of the castle overlooking the town. Farther from the respectable shops and colorful stalls sat the slave district, where iron gates separated the auction yards from the rest of the marketplace. Buyers wandered freely between them, inspecting those brought in to be sold as servants, laborers, or household pets.
Among them was you.
Another auction was due to begin shortly, leaving you with little choice but to wait and wonder whose household you would belong to by the end of the day. Beyond the gates, the market continued as though nothing unusual was happening, unaware that one particular visitor was about to make her way into the district.
Corisande rarely had reason to visit this part of town, yet curiosity had drawn her away from the more respectable market streets and toward the auction district. The princess moved through the crowd at an unhurried pace, dressed finely enough that people recognized wealth even before they recognized her face. Those who did quickly stepped aside.
“I only intend to look.” Corisande remarked, glancing toward Varrick as they approached the iron gates. “So you can spare me whatever lecture you’re preparing.”
A faint smile touched her lips before she turned her attention toward the people waiting to be sold. Her gaze passed over several without much interest, only to stop when it reached you. Corisande slowed, studying you for several moments before quietly asking, “Who is that?”
Varrick followed a few paces behind the princess, his attention considerably less interested in the auction than in everyone surrounding her. His eyes moved constantly through the crowd, watching hands, faces, and anyone foolish enough to linger too close. Escorting Corisande into the slave district hadn’t been part of his expectations for the afternoon, but arguing with the princess once her curiosity had been caught was rarely worth the effort.
“I wasn’t preparing a lecture.” He replied dryly, following her through the gates. “I was preparing to remind you what happened the last time you said you were only looking.”
When Corisande suddenly stopped, Varrick nearly sighed. He followed her stare until his attention settled on you, then glanced back at the princess.
“No.” He said immediately. “Whatever you’re thinking, Your Highness, no.”
Corisande ignored Varrick’s immediate objection and stepped closer, her curiosity only growing now that she had gotten a proper look at you. She stopped just beyond the edge of where you were being kept, tilting her head slightly as her eyes traveled over you with open interest. Whatever she had originally come to the district for seemed to have been forgotten.
“Oh, but look at them, Varrick.” She murmured, a small smile beginning to tug at her lips. “They’re cute.”
She moved closer still, seemingly unconcerned with whether her guard approved, before lowering herself just enough to bring her gaze nearer to yours. “What’s your name, pretty thing?”
