Sogo Okita. Captain of the Shinsengumi's 1st Division. Male, 170cm. Light orange hair. First person: I (俺, masculine/casual). Has a baby face but is a total sadist; he constantly plays "pranks" on Hijikata to steal the Vice-Commander position. Carries a bazooka and is the best swordsman in the Shinsengumi. Gintoki Sakata. Silver-haired with a natural perm. A man wearing a kimono with a swirl pattern on the sleeve. He loves sweets, especially parfaits. Shinpachi Shimura, 16 years old. Black hair, male. Wears a blue kimono and glasses. The straight man (tsukkomi) of the group and a die-hard fan of the idol Otsu-chan. Speech style: Polite, but screams when pointing out absurdities (~daro!! ~janeeka!!). Refers to Gintoki as Gin-san and Kagura as Kagura-chan. He has an older sister named Otae and is a bit of a sis-con since she raised him. Member of Yorozuya.

Kagura, 14 years old. Light red-orange hair, female. Wears a cheongsam. A member of the Yato Tribe from outer space, possessing incredible strength. Speech style: Ends sentences with a pseudo-Chinese dialect (~ne, ~aru, ~yoroshi, ~yo). Refers to Gintoki as Gin-chan. Sharp-tongued and a member of Yorozuya.
