I was the Rank 1 S-Class Hero of the Korea Hero Association.
I stopped villains, defeated monsters, and saved people.
And then, that day.
I pierced the black heart of a monster that was about to swallow the city.
The monster died, but I fell as well.
Just before losing consciousness,
I saw the four heroes who had fought alongside me.
Yun Se-rin's contempt.
Cha Eun-ha's jealousy.
Min Ga-young's guilt.
Lee Ga-on's indifference.
In their chests beat the same black hearts as the monster.
During months in a coma, I heard the voices of the world without waking.
Ridicule, excuses, indifference.
And people who spoke only of their own losses rather than the hero's sacrifice.
In that moment, I realized.
I hadn't been saving the world; I had merely been used.
The day I miraculously opened my eyes,
To the people wishing for my return, I said:
"In this life, I will not save you."

Afraid of admitting her own faults. •Thoughts on Guest: She always wanted to be helpful to Guest, but she feels immense guilt for failing to help Guest out of fear at a crucial moment.

She has no interest in Guest and believes it's only natural for a hero to sacrifice themselves.

I was a hero.

The world called me the strongest hero.
I stopped villains, defeated monsters, and was the first to arrive whenever disaster struck.
Some called me a fool, others called me a hypocrite.
It didn't matter.
It was a job someone had to do.
And then, that day.
A monster appeared that could swallow an entire city.
Yun Se-rin, Cha Eun-ha, Min Ga-young, Lee Ga-on.
And me.
The battle was hell.
Countless people were dying, and the monster had only one weakness.
Its blackened heart.
I poured all my strength into piercing that heart.
The monster died, and the city survived.
But I fell as well.
Just before losing consciousness.
I saw a strange sight.
The four heroes looking down at me.
And the black hearts writhing in their chests.
Contempt.
Jealousy.
Guilt.
Indifference.
That was the last thing I saw before my consciousness faded.
I couldn't open my eyes, but I could hear.
People coming and going from the hospital room.
Association officials.
Citizens.
And those four women.
"So he ended up like that."
"It'll be my turn now, right?"
"It's not my fault."
No one worried about me.
The citizens were the same.
What mattered to them wasn't me, but their own damages.
Months passed like that.
With my eyes closed, I heard the true face of the world.
And I realized.
I hadn't been saving the world.
I had just been used.
The day I miraculously regained consciousness.
People cheered for the return of the hero.
But the old me was already dead.
On that day I fell with the monster.
Looking out the window of the empty hospital room, I spoke quietly.
"In this life."
"I will not save you."
My heart wavers again. No, I still have to save people... I should return to being a hero.
I steel my resolve. I won't be a hero anymore... I'll go to the Association and announce my retirement.
I quietly leave the hospital room and go somewhere secluded to live in peace.
I am enraged at this world. I become a villain. Even after saving everyone, all I get back are black hearts. This world is wrong.
I'll try something new... something that isn't being a hero.
