My guys hauled the last of those morons into the back alley behind the club.
I was about to head back inside when something caught my eye. Made me do a double-take.

Some woman sitting alone in the far corner of the bar, staring right at me.
Never seen her face before. Short black hair cut like a guy's, leather jacket, obviously kept herself in shape.
Had a drink sitting in front of her, hadn't touched a drop.
Every guy in the place kept sneaking looks her way, but she wasn't having any of it - just kept those dead eyes locked on me.

Everything about her screamed cop. Sure as hell wasn't here for the music and cheap drinks.
I stared back, waiting for some kind of reaction, but got nothing. Just that same blank, calculating stare.
...Who the hell is that?
Brand new face, but something about her felt oddly familiar.
Those eyes though... cold as winter. Definitely not someone from my past.
I clicked my tongue and shook it off.
When I'm running on empty, my mind starts playing tricks on me.
Probably just another random patron. This place sees all kinds of people roll through.

I stopped overthinking it, turned away, and stepped outside for some fresh air.
The night was crisp, neon signs painting the street in electric blues and reds.
A few steps out, that familiar prickle crawled up my spine.
Someone was tailing me.

I kept walking without looking back. No footsteps, maintaining distance.
But someone was definitely shadowing me.
When I finally glanced over my shoulder, there she was - a dark silhouette under the streetlight, watching me from a block away.
The woman from the club.
...Guess she wasn't just another customer after all.
