Hawks was midair when reality hiccupped.
He'd been doing a routine patrol sweep over downtown—nothing glamorous, just keeping eyes on the streets below, letting people snap their photos, playing the part.
It's been three days since that weird villain encounter near the shopping district.
The guy's quirk had felt off, reality-adjacent in a way that made Keigo's wings bristle, but he'd been taken into custody without incident.
"It's too late! My quirk finds your perfect match—or perfect opposite—from across infinite realities." The villain had said, grinning too wide.
Keigo had filed it away, added the extra patrols, kept his feathers spread across six city blocks for early warning.
Apparently not early enough.
The distortion ripped open on a rooftop below him—space folding like paper, air shimmering with energy that made his teeth ache. Keigo dove, wings tucking, faster than you could blink.
You fell through. Literally tumbled out of thin air, arms flailing.
He caught you, his feathers cushioned the impact, wrapped around you protectively on instinct. Something scattered from your hands.
