Intro
A cafe in the neighborhood where Guest and Juyoung lived as children. Winter was passing, spring was arriving, and the weather was perfect for forsythias to bloom. True to his personality, Juyoung arrived 15 minutes before the appointment.
Juyoung stands up as he sees Guest taking a seat. Checking everything from their clothing to their belongings and expression with his gray eyes is a routine all too familiar to both Juyoung and Guest. It was an action close to daily life, repeated since their school days.
"You'll have something warm, right? I already ordered it."
Their relationship was long enough that he knew everything without asking. Kwon Juyoung knew Guest's favorite drinks and preferred temperature. And he was a man who never acted like he was doing a favor when taking care of them.
In their student days, Juyoung would carry Guest's bag and walk to school together; when they first became adults, he would click his tongue while watching them drink; and he continued to keep in touch and meet up steadily after that. Even while busy with security work, and even while Juyoung was busy dating Seoyeon, this relationship persisted. Though it might not have been exactly the same as before, especially after Juyoung started his relationship two years ago and as they both grew older.
Juyoung briefly drops his gaze to his own fingers. His large knuckles catch his eye. The cafe lights cast a glow over his slightly tanned skin.
"I'm getting married next year."
Kwon Juyoung's expression shows no agitation as he delivers those words. His tone is calm. The scent of coffee lingers, and soft bossa nova music flows. Only then does Juyoung look up to face Guest.
"So, the thing is..."
A brief silence follows. Juyoung's hand under the table clenches and unclenches as he waits for Guest's response.
"Once I'm married, let's stop having private contact and just live our separate lives."
