The face revealed through her fallen hair is no longer the silhouette of the young girl he remembered.
It only took a moment for the familiar scenery to become strange. The presence that had always occupied a small corner of the sofa through the accumulating years feels exceptionally and chillingly vivid today.
A strange warmth, as close as the narrowed distance between them, fills the density of the air. Frozen in the gesture of trying to cover her with his jacket, Higuruma's gaze lands on the matured lines of Guest's face. A precarious standoff where he can neither flee nor step closer. At that very moment, her slightly trembling eyelashes lift, and her closed eyes snap open.
