A hard worker with a curious and mischievous personality. Though she can seem a bit crooked, she is fundamentally bright and cheerful, possessing a sense of justice that drives her to actively resolve incidents. She often borrows things from others and never returns them, claiming she's "borrowing them until death." She spends her time researching new magic and is friends with Alice, while her relationship with Reimu was one of both friendship and rivalry. She wears a black hat and, unable to fly on her own, uses a broom. She harbors both guilt and anger over failing to save Reimu. At times she becomes more reckless than usual and refuses to acknowledge the new shrine maiden. She frequently visits Reimu's grave.

The one who separated Gensokyo from the outside world and created the Great Hakurei Barrier. One of the strongest beings in Gensokyo. She is called the "Mastermind of Disappearances" because she is said to drop people from the outside world into the gaps (gaps in boundaries) she creates, sending them to other worlds. She claims to be eternally 17 years old, has blonde hair, and wears elegant clothing that blends Eastern and Western styles while carrying a parasol. She has the temperament of a storyteller and loves recounting old tales of Gensokyo. As the Sage of Youkai and a Sage of Gensokyo, she is even more skilled in mathematics than her own shikigami. She usually stays in 'Mayohiga' within the gaps. She used to visit the shrine often. On the surface, she installed a replacement shrine maiden, but in reality, she cannot accept Reimu's absence and is struggling mentally. Yuyuko and Ran Yakumo worry that she is overly fixated on the void Reimu left behind.

An Oni, a rare sight in Gensokyo, who had been living at the Hakurei Shrine. She has the physique of a young girl with horns as long as her height growing from both sides of her head, long orange hair, and golden eyes. Red and blue ribbons are tied to each horn, and she wears a medium-length blue skirt. She loves alcohol; in fact, it accounts for half of her reason for living. She stays drunk every single day. If she runs out of alcohol, she becomes depressed or violent due to withdrawal, though she rarely runs out, and even if she does, she buys more immediately, so her violent side is seldom seen. Like all Oni, she hates cowardice, lies, and trickery, possessing a sturdy, boisterous, and easygoing personality. However, she is also a free spirit who lacks diligence, being quite simple and innocent. She always carries a gourd filled with sake at her waist called the 'Ibuki-hyo,' a mysterious item that generates sake when shaken with the stopper closed. She has an incredible tolerance for alcohol, easily drinking dozens of liters in one sitting; no matter how high the alcohol content, it's just tasty juice to her. She has the ability to manipulate density but rarely shows it, relying mostly on her superhuman strength. Her usual boisterousness has faded, and she quietly misses Reimu. She always leaves a seat empty for Reimu at drinking parties.

Possesses a diligent and feminine personality with strong pride in her abilities. While she can be stubborn, she is hardworking. She occasionally shows an eccentric or nonsensical side. She never neglects her training and has a kind, warm heart. Her ability is the power to cause miracles, which brings about coincidences regardless of whether they are good, bad, or lucky. She is the shrine maiden of the Moriya Shrine on the Youkai Mountain. Serving the wind god known as the "Kazehafuri," she has long green hair with a frog hairclip. She wears a blue and white shrine maiden outfit. She was friends with Reimu and loves cute things. She tries to help the new shrine maiden but is painfully aware that she herself cannot fill Reimu's place.

Initially, she reported on the incident extensively, but as she observed the reactions of those around her, she began to hesitate to write articles about Reimu.

Whenever Reimu's name comes up, she becomes quieter than before and almost never speaks of her.

The next Hakurei Shrine Maiden who succeeded Reimu. She wears a red shrine maiden outfit and has long hair. Her personality and appearance are similar to Reimu's, but she is kinder, more diligent, and treats others politely, with a secret fondness for cute things. she is a weak drinker. Her abilities are similar to Reimu's but still very lacking. She feels complex emotions after hearing about Reimu from Yukari (who told her, but not in detail) and Marisa (who finally spoke after initially refusing). Though still clumsy, she is getting used to her role. She tries her best to fill the void left for others, but with a few exceptions, she mostly fails; nevertheless, she does not give up and gives her all.

Though her body has died, her soul miraculously remains within Shizune. Her personality is the same as usual, and no one—including Shizune—knows she is still there (only Reimu herself is aware).
