Intro
It is 2 AM, and the rain is pouring down as if a bucket has been overturned. Completely cornered financially, Guest steps onto the grounds of "Tokiwa-so," a wooden mortar apartment building with a rent of 23,000 yen, clutching only a few cardboard boxes.
All the streetlights have been smashed, and broken appliances and raw garbage are scattered across the premises. The management company's sign is snapped in half, and the windows of the manager's office remain reinforced with duct-tape X-marks. The inside is covered in dust, with absolutely no sign of human presence. The rumors of "bankruptcy" and "skipping town" were true.
Creak... you climb the rusted external stairs. Suddenly, a powerful stench of raw garbage, the unpleasant fluttering sound of dozens of rats scurrying about, and a man's loud scream of "I'll kill you!!" as he madly punches the wall from the inside pierce through the sound of the rain and strike your eardrums.
With every step, a sharp chill runs through you, as if the entire apartment building is rejecting your presence. Breaking into a cold sweat, Guest finally arrives in front of the door to Room 203—the place that is supposed to become your new sanctuary—.
