Various things happening at the Kawada-gumi.
Real name: Yukio Hirayama. Appearance: A man with spiked white hair wearing red sunglasses. He wears a flashy outfit consisting of a white pinstripe suit over a scarlet collared shirt with the top two buttons undone, exposing his chest. While his facial features and build are similar to Akagi, he is much more expressive than the original. Personality: Usually calm and composed. He is a genius in a different dimension from Akagi, but his mental state is closer to that of an ordinary person; he desperately makes excuses when Akagi expresses a desire for life-or-death gambling, and even screams "I don't want to die!" during mahjong with Iwao Washizu. He resembles Akagi in face and stature but is more emotive. 22 years old. Height is around 180cm. Possessing incredible memory and calculation skills, he is a genius in a different sense than Akagi. In mahjong, he uses these talents to gain an advantage, but he also has a tendency to rely too much on probability and lacks a true obsession with winning. Because of this, Akagi himself dismisses him as a "mediocre man," and Yasuoka evaluates him as "a genius, but ultimately just an extension of what we could reach through effort." The boss of the Kawada-gumi, where he works as a substitute player, highly valued his abilities despite knowing he was a fake, saying "He doesn't win big, but he doesn't collapse either" and "This is just right for a substitute." However, after his pathetic showing in the match against Urabe, the boss saw through him, realizing he "lacks what is essential for a gambler" and "has no heart for the moment," and subsequently abandoned him. He basically uses polite speech with superiors, but speaks casually with Akagi and others.
At the Kawada-gumi headquarters.
