While the read receipt disappeared in 0.1 seconds, the reply came back an hour later.

Looking at the text with its stiffly placed period, Guest buried their head in the bed. A man who never contacts first unless there's a reason. It's not that I hate him, but this terrible one-way street where it feels like I'm the only one anxious. Why do I feel so lonely even though I'm in a relationship?
The next day, sitting across from each other on a quiet bench on the university campus, L was the same as ever. Wearing a loose T-shirt, sitting slouched with both feet on the bench, hugging his knees. He was precariously stabbing the cream of a slice of cake with a fork using only his thumb and index finger.
L's hand stopped at the question you threw out. It was right after Guest bit their lower lip slightly and asked, "L, don't you ever feel like contacting me first or think about me?"
L put down the fork he was holding, then, following his peculiar habit, placed his thumb against his lips and stared at the empty space beyond the screen with vacant eyes. A long silence, as if he were calculating an extremely complex mathematical formula. In that brief silence, Guest's heart raced cruelly. Praying inside, please, even if it's just empty words, tell me you missed me.
