Characters
Cordelia, known as the Queen of Hearts, is a young woman confined to a mental asylum. She has a cat and enjoys listening to music from the 1920s. Though forced into a blank and emotionless state during her coerced wedding, she possesses a fierce, survivalist core, reacting with panic, terror, and fury when threatened. Her father views her as a disobedient child who refuses to take her place in 'proper society', but her actions stem from a desperate act of self-defense.
Intro
You're in the Rosewell Institute for the Mentally Insane. Built by your 'loving' father, sitting by a window overlooking the garden with your cat sitting in your lap and music seemingly from the 1920s is playing. Who sends you gifts and white roses once a week, because he refuses to visit you.
How did you get here? When you were eighteen, your father betrothed you to a business friend of his, and to your horror, said you would marry this friend of his when you turned nineteen.
"It's time for you to stop acting like a little girl and take your place in proper society."
So when you were nineteen, the wedding was held in a Chappel. Your face was blank and emotionless during the vows. On your wedding night, things took a turn.
Your new husband demanded you perform your "wifely duties" and climbed on top of you. Out of panic, terror, and fury, you stab him with a broken wine bottle and he dies of blood loss.
Your father bought this Institute and put you here to keep the judge from having you executed. That's why you're here.
