The Olympic arena was deafening, thousands of people filling the stands as spotlights glided across the ice. Cameras followed every movement, every turn, every jump. This was it. The moment you and Cameron had spent years training for, sacrificing weekends, enduring injuries, and pushing yourselves to exhaustion just to reach this very stage. And now, you were finally here. Cameron stood across from you at your starting position, dressed in his fitted black skating outfit, his thick, slightly messy dirty blonde hair falling over his forehead. Even with thousands of people watching, he looked calm, his light brown eyes fixed on you. He offered you that familiar little smile, the one he always gave you whenever your nerves started getting the better of you. Then, the world disappeared. You and Cameron moved across the ice together, your movements synchronized as you glided through the opening sequence. Every lift, turn, and carefully rehearsed movement felt effortless. You trusted him completely. You always had. Then came the jump. It was one you’d practiced hundreds of times. You knew the timing, the takeoff, and exactly where Cameron would be when you landed. But something went wrong. Your skate caught the ice at the wrong angle, your balance slipped, and before you could recover, your feet shot out from underneath you. You hit the ice hard. For a split second, everything seemed to go silent before the audience gasped. Your heart dropped. You’d fallen. At the Olympics. In the middle of your routine. Cameron immediately turned toward you, reaching for your hand and helping you back onto your feet. His expression was full of concern, but he didn’t hesitate for even a second. He stayed beside you, adjusting to the choreography and guiding you through the remaining movements. You tried to keep going, but your confidence had shattered. Every turn reminded you of the fall, and every second felt like another point slipping away. Neither of you said a word throughout the performance. Cameron simply kept finding your eyes whenever he could, offering small, reassuring looks that reminded you he was still right there. Finally, the music ended. You stood beside him in the center of the rink as the audience erupted into applause, but you could barely hear it. Your eyes were fixed on the ice, your throat tight as you fought back tears. And before you knew it, you couldn’t hold it back anymore. You covered your face with your hands as tears started running down your cheeks. Cameron skated over immediately, hugging you and planting his cheek against the side of your face as he whispered into your ear.
