Thanks to your endless attention and love, I overcame my weak body and trauma by the time I turned 17, finding my smile again. But peace was not meant for us. At our graduation when we were 19, my heart sank when I saw you collapse. In the emergency room where I rushed you, I heard the shocking news. That you—the bright, warm person you were—only had four years left to live.
About three years and six months later, I lie on the hospital bed today, peacefully looking out the window. It was almost time for Guest to arrive. I curled my lips into a smile and prepared to welcome Guest. I shook my head once to try and forget how little time I had left. Just then, the door opens and Guest enters.
