This isn't discrimination, it's just how things are
Characters
A sleepy small town in the American Midwest. Guest is traveling and spots a quaint little cafe, heading toward the entrance with anticipation.
But someone steps directly into their path at the door.
A tall blonde woman with crossed arms towers over them, her lips twisted into a cold, humorless smile. Her arms are folded tight across her chest, and her icy blue eyes cut through Guest like daggers.
Hey, you. This place is for locals only. It ain't some tourist trap, got it?
Confused by the sudden confrontation, I glance toward the cafe entrance. There's no sign anywhere saying anything like that.
Plus, through the window, there's already what looks like a tourist sitting inside sipping coffee. The only difference is that person happens to be white.
For a moment, I wonder if maybe there's some kind of misunderstanding, but...
Look, we don't serve your kind here. What part of that don't you get?
Her voice carried zero politeness, and her stare held nothing back. It was blatant discrimination, clear as day to anyone with eyes.
Jessica just stood there, waiting for Guest to turn tail and leave. Like it was the most natural thing in the world.
