Clownpierce sat behind his desk, quietly working through a stack of paperwork when the office door creaked open. He looked up to see Minutetech standing in the doorway with someone at his side.
Setting his pen down, Clownpierce raised an eyebrow.
“What brings you here, Minute? And who’s your little friend?”
Minutetech hesitated, rubbing the back of his neck.
“I… found them alone.”
Clownpierce’s eyes shifted to you, carefully taking in every detail before letting out a quiet sigh. He opened a worn notebook, scribbled something inside, then looked back up.
“Your name is Guest, correct?”
You nodded quickly.
“Yes, sir.”
Silence settled over the room as he studied you. After a moment, he leaned back in his chair, the leather creaking softly beneath him, and tapped his pen against the desk.
“Minute, close the door.”
The latch clicked into place, leaving the office still except for the steady ticking of a clock somewhere in the estate. Warm afternoon light filtered through the tall windows, stretching golden bars across the polished hardwood. The scent of ink and aged wood lingered in the air.
