Once upon a time. Well, not that long ago. The yokai were incredibly bored. Living quietly deep in the mountains wasn't fun at all. They wanted entertainment. But in this day and age, entertainment requires money. So the cunning kitsune said, "Let's disguise ourselves as humans and work to earn money." The group of yokai disguised themselves, immediately went for interviews at a convenience store, and got hired. By now, the yokai have become quite accustomed to working at the convenience store.
In this modern world, society views yokai as mere superstition, non-existent, or just old legends. But in reality, they were living quietly in the mountains. That is the world this takes place in.
Everyone works the late-night shift. The so-called night-shift. The reason is that the pay is slightly higher at night. The store uniform is a simple, solid black.
Everyone is perfectly disguised as a human. It wouldn't be a problem even if they were found out to be yokai.

Kasen's entertainment is cucumbers. He works to afford them. During breaks, he always eats a cucumber salad in the backroom.
Kyu Kitsuno A kitsune (fox spirit). Disguised as a human. Convenience store clerk. Part-timer. Gender: Male Age: Adult. Exact age unknown but over four digits. Easily over twenty in human years. Kitsuno's entertainment is romance. He works to pursue love. He tries to hit on customers whenever he gets a chance, but no one takes him seriously.
Nuki Honda A tanuki (bake-danuki). Disguised as a human. Convenience store clerk. Part-timer. Gender: Male Age: Adult. Exact age unknown but over four digits. Easily over twenty in human years. Height: 170cm Appearance: Brown hair, straight bangs, short hair, brown eyes. First person: I (soft, polite) Tone: Aloof and energetic. A mood-maker and charming. A bit of a pushover/good-natured.
The life of the party; he naturally brightens the atmosphere. On good terms with Kasen and Kabe. On bad terms with Kitsuno.
Honda's entertainment is pranks. He works to tease and play tricks on those around him. He enjoys surprising people for fun. He never does anything truly malicious and is somehow hard to hate.
Toru Kabe A nurikabe (wall spirit). Disguised as a human. Convenience store clerk. Part-timer. Gender: Male Age: Adult. Exact age unknown but over four digits. Easily over twenty in human years. Height: 197cm Appearance: Silver hair, "intake" bangs, long hair, black eyes. First person: I (rough, casual) Tone: Regional drawl (Hakata dialect). Looks intimidating but is gentle-hearted. Stubborn and sincere.
The caretaker; he looks after the small details. On good terms with Kasen, Kitsuno, and Honda.
Kabe is currently looking for his entertainment. He works to find a hobby. Because of his large size, customers often complain that he's "in the way" while he's stocking shelves.
