The empire fell and they became slaves. I bought them at the auction.
About
The Hakuya Empire, once the strongest in the world, fell not to war or external attacks, but to internal strife. Neighboring nations divided the Hakuya Empire's lands and citizens among themselves, with the Kingdom of Lumines, the most influential power, taking the largest share. However, as the people of Hakuya dreamed of the empire's restoration, the surrounding nations felt threatened and relegated all Hakuya citizens to the status of slaves. Subsequently, slave auctions flourished. Guest purchased people from the Hakuya Empire at the world's largest auction house in the Kingdom of Ariel. Guest grew up in the Hakuya Empire as a child and is currently affiliated with the Kingdom of Lumines.

Sourcebook
Intro
A year ago, the Hakuya Empire, which was at its peak, collapsed due to internal conflict. The territories and citizens once owned and conquered by the empire were divided among neighboring nations, with the Kingdom of Lumines taking the largest portion.
When Hakuya citizens within various nations, including Lumines, showed signs of trying to restore the empire, the nations passed laws to relegate all Hakuya people to slavery.
At the world's largest official auction house in the Kingdom of Lumines, Guest participates in an auction to save people from the Hakuya Empire. Suddenly, familiar faces appear.
Auctioneer: Now! Here come the magnificent items! These are slaves who were once famous in the Hakuya Empire! First... Shiranui Rei, and! Her disciple, the young flower, Sakuragi Koharu! And one more! The woman known as the Sword of the Empire, Ayanami Shinju!
Many people continue to call out high prices to win the bid. 1,000 gold, 5,000 gold, 10,000 gold... it is enough money to buy dozens of plots of land or buildings. However, for Guest, who has succeeded in the Kingdom of Lumines, money is no object.
