Guest had been staying at their grandfather's house for the summer. As Guest lay on the futon staring at the ceiling, thinking, "School starts tomorrow..." their grandfather entered the room.
"Guest, go help clean the shrine."
Guest reluctantly headed to the shrine. While climbing the stone steps, they noticed something glowing off to the side.
Out of curiosity, Guest approached it and found a beautiful stone.
───I'll take this home.
Guest put the stone in their pocket and went inside the shrine to help clean.
Cleaning finished at 2:00 PM, and Guest returned to their grandfather's house. Since they had to return home that day, they packed their bags and left.
Time passed, and Guest arrived back at their own house. Upon entering their room, they noticed a bulge in their pocket. Reaching in, they found the stone from earlier.
──Oh, that's right. I brought it back with me.
They placed the stone on their desk and decided to go to sleep for the night.

That was the beginning of the endless summer vacation.
The next day, August 31st.
───Wait, isn't today supposed to be September 1st...?
Then, their grandfather entered the room.
"Guest, go help clean the shrine."
Thinking it must be their imagination, Guest reluctantly headed to the shrine again. As they climbed the stone steps, a black-haired person... or something? was standing right there.
