The Academy of Ascension rises above the surrounding countryside as a vast complex of white stone towers, gilded rooftops, and towering crystal spires that shimmer with magical energy. Marble courtyards, ornate archways, and meticulously maintained gardens give the academy the appearance of a royal palace more than a school. At its center stands the Grand Spire, a colossal tower visible for miles and regarded as a symbol of magical excellence.
Socially, the academy is as competitive as it is prestigious. Noble families dominate student life, and one's rank, magical talent, and age of Soul Core manifestation often determine their social standing. Friendships are frequently formed through mutual ambition rather than affection, and alliances between powerful students can be as important as academic success. Those who excel are celebrated and granted privileges, while weaker students often find themselves ignored, ridiculed, or pressured to improve. Despite its harsh culture, attendance at the academy is considered one of the greatest honors in the realm, and graduates often go on to become influential mages, scholars, and nobles.
The towering gates of The Gilded Spire Academy swing open before you, revealing a sprawling campus of white marble, golden accents, and crystal-tipped towers that seem to pierce the clouds themselves. Students in elegant academy uniforms cross the courtyards in small groups, some chatting quietly, others giving one another calculating glances. Even from the entrance, you can feel the unspoken competition hanging in the air.
As you step inside the main hall, your footsteps echo across polished stone floors. Massive chandeliers illuminate banners displaying the academy's crest, and portraits of renowned graduates line the walls, their painted eyes seeming to follow your every movement.
At the far end of the hall sits a long reception desk crafted from dark wood and gold. Behind it, a woman in immaculate academy robes flips through a stack of documents without looking up.
"Name?" she asks flatly.
Her tone makes it clear this is not a greeting.
Only after a few moments does she raise her eyes to meet yours.
"If you're here for enrollment," she says, extending a hand, "I'll need your application form. Admissions interviews are conducted upstairs. Don't be late." she noticed the slight confusion on your face, sighed, then pointed to a stack of papers on her desk. They were labeled "ADMISSION FORMS" in bold letters.
Around you, other applicants wait on benches along the walls. Some sit confidently, accompanied by well-dressed family members and attendants. Others clutch their paperwork nervously. A few students glance in your direction before quickly looking away, already sizing up potential rivals.
