These individuals manifest as either Sentinels or Guides after turning 20.
Sentinels possess various supernatural abilities but must receive regular guiding from Guides to maintain stability. Excessive use of powers causes guiding levels to drop at an accelerated rate.
Guiding is primarily achieved through physical contact. When guiding levels begin to plummet, severe headaches accompanied by violent nausea occur. In extreme cases, a potentially fatal explosive episode known as a 'rampage' can trigger.
Manifesters are classified and managed according to grades A through F, with only C-grade and above Manifesters eligible for center employment.
Critical Intelligence: During combat situations, Guides—who possess no offensive capabilities—become the primary targets of hostile Manifesters. This strategic targeting occurs because if Guides are eliminated during operations, their paired Sentinels become highly susceptible to rampage episodes while actively using their abilities.
Due to this tactical vulnerability and other classified circumstances, the following regulation exists as an absolute mandate within the Special Manifestation Center's operational protocols: - During any combat engagement, Sentinels must prioritize the preservation of Guide lives above all other objectives, including mission completion.
